Welcome to My Rally Campaign
My name is Ari Nelson and I am currently a student at Northeastern University studying Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Gender Studies. I play for the Northeastern Valkyries and Boston Slow White (#11 in the video above), and I was just invited to play for the Under 24 USA Women's National Team at 2019 U24 Worlds!
Why I'm Raising Funds
The cost for playing for any U24 team is very high. These fundraised funds will go towards my cost of travel, housing, uniforms, and anything else that is involved in participating in this team and representing the US. U24 Worlds is in Germany in July, and there is a training camp in Colorado in June. These flights, and any of the housing involved, is out of pocket for all athletes that were chosen to play for one of the three teams.
How I Got Here
I have been playing Ultimate Frisbee for a while, but just within the last four years have really considered myself a competitive athlete. I started really playing in high school for my team in Seattle, and my senior year started my club career with a team called Seattle Pegasus. When I came to college, my coach at the time pushed me to be the best athlete I could be, and I ended up gaining the confidence to try out for Boston Slow White, a dominant mixed team in the Boston area and the nation.
Over the summer of 2018, I was given the opportunity to apply for tryouts for the U24 National Teams. In September, I found out that I was given a spot at tryouts and began training. On January 7th I was offered a spot on the Women's National Team and promptly accepted (I was so excited).
The U24 Women's National Team consists of some of the best athletes in the United States. There are women who have played at all levels of the sport; competing for National Club titles, competing for other Worlds titles, competing for College National titles, and much more. These players are athletes that I have looked up to for my entire frisbee career, and I am beyond excited to play with them during this amazing opportunity.
The three coaches of the team are also phenomenal names in the frisbee community. The two female coaches play for one of the best Club Women's team, San Francisco Fury, and have both won multiple titles at a National and World level. The third coach is the coach that pushed me to become a better player on my college team and ultimately the player I am today. It is really the opportunity of a lifetime to be coached by these three individuals.
Please consider donating to my fundraising so that I can represent the USA this summer in Germany!
